In a task from my visual communication class, we had to think of a festival we wanted to design.
I chose the upcoming sport „Teqball“, which is a dynamic sport that combines elements of soccer and tennis. Played on a curved table, players hit a soccer ball back and forth using any part of their body except their hands and arms, aiming to score points by making it difficult for the opponent to return the ball. It emphasizes skill, agility, and precision and can be played solo or in doubles. Teqball is gaining popularity worldwide and promotes both fun and athletic development.
In my design, I combined modern design approaches with dynamics and ball sports to create a design system that can be applied to a wide variety of media.
I began by designing the festival essentials like, posters for advertising, flags, staff/athlete/press pass, tickets and entrance bands.
But of course nowadays, only the essentials are not enough!
I had to think of many more possibilities like a program booklet, Instagram feed, and merchandise, which can work with my design.
Bebas is a modern, sleek, sans-serif, and powerful font designed by Ryoichi Tsunekawa in 2010. It is characterized by its clean lines and striking letters.
The Bebas Neue Pro version offers an even wider selection of styles and features. In addition to the existing styles, the Pro version includes additional weights, such as SemiExpanded, Expanded, and ExtraBold, and for the first time, it also allows the use of lowercase letters and other diacretic characters. This allows designers to use foreign-language proper names or words.
As part of a group project, we created a magazine that focuses on fashion in various countries.
The design is inspired by teen magazines, which are overloaded with vibrancy, bright colors, and stickers. It was a difficult task to find a middle ground where the design would be appealing while still being cluttered. We mastered this task and received high praise from fellow students and our professor while reviewing the magazine.
